Auf dem Bild ist eine nach rechts blickende Hirschkuh vor einer Waldlichtung stehend dargestellt. Das Bild bietet einen Blick in die Ferne, aus dem dunkel des Waldes hinaus in Richtung eines in hellen Tönen gemalten Gebirges. Rechts und links der Hirschkuh befinden sich mächtige Stämme mit zum Teil abgebrochenen Ästen und hinter diesen auf beiden Seiten Nadelbäume. Das Gemälde gehörte im Jahr 1822 zur Königlich bayerischen Gemäldesammlung. Seitz war als Maler und Bildhauer um 1754/56 in der Kurpfalz tätig.
