Description

Gegossene Bronzefibel. Außen 2 am Rand gekerbte Rosetten, verbunden durch einen schmalen, nach außen ausgebuchteten Mittelsteg. Auf Rosetten und Steg kleine Grübchen zur Aufnahme von Glasfluss. Auf dem Steg noch eines gefüllt mit blauem Glasfluss.
Rückseitig Nadelbefestigung und Nadelrast. Nadel fehlt.
Grubenschmelzfibel, um 1200.

Es ist überliefert dass solche Schmuckfibeln, deren Ausbuchtung eine Agraffe bildete, u.a. zum Anstecken einer Blume an der Kleidung dienten.

Fundort: Feldgemarkung nordöstlich von Grünstadt.

Altbestand des 1903 gegründeten Altertumsvereins Grünstadt.
