Das Bild zeigt den Kirchturm (Glockenturm) der St. Medard Kirchen auf dem Kirchplatz. Mitten in der Bendorfer Innenstadt findet man die im Jahr 1204 geweihten Kirchen St. Medard. In wohl einmaliger Konstellation sind hier die evangelische und die katholische Kirche unter einem Dach vereint. Zwar sind die Kirchen räumlich getrennt, dennoch durch die sogenannte ökumenische Pforte verbunden. Der gemeinsame Glockenturm ist im Besitz der Stadt. Von hier ertönt täglich ein melodisches Glockenspiel über den Kirchplatz.
Die Aufnahme entstand im Jahre 1962 im Rahmen eines Fotowettbewerbes.
