Am 16. Februar 1944 starb der hochdekorierte Feldwebel Josef Kramprich beim Durchbruch aus dem Einschließungsring bei Tscherkassy (im Zentrum der Ukraine; südöstlich von Kiew) im Alter von 27 Jahren. Wo er beerdigt wurde ist nicht bekannt.
